110 years of SCOUT in the world

B.P. is the well-known expression of scouts to honor the English General, Sir Lord Robert Cecil Stephenson Smith Baden-Power of Gilwell. I would never have thought that his ideology created during the last years of war at the end of XIX century and the beginning of XX century, specially the South Africa campaign, would transcend on history. Neither that today first of August of 2017 scouts will be celebrating 110 years old.

It was therefore at the end of the war with Boers that B.P. returned to England and receives Kings Eduardo VII recommendations. This motivates B.P to ends his military career, and dedicate all his time to Boys Scouts founded in 1907. Its first experimental camp was in Brownsea island.

In 1917 the scouts arrived to Colombia and they are part of the world organization since 1993. From that day until today the country has demonstrated active participation, compromise and consistency. The scouts in Colombia have work in order to make the scouts an institution that generates in the young a lot of character, solidarity, patriotic feeling, respect for God and value added to build better citizens for society.

Certainly, thought the years and the current 18,000 active and inactive members of the Association of Colombian Scout have left traces in this organization known as the scout law. This promise and interaction of leaving a better world than we find it are among others the great strengths that characterize men and women of left hand greeting.

Today the Colombian Scout is rising a pray to Lord for the memory of such important philosophy of life, a harm greeting for the scouts in 163 countries part of the world organization. Also to those who proudly carried in their necks the scarf that identifies the noble society of Scouting for boys. I will use this opportunity to congratulate the reason of being part of this movement, to guide the young people, because without them nothing would make sense,
